School culture and climate directly affect student learning and engagement as well as aspirations and preparation. A school-going culture sets high expectations for all students and provides them with the academic preparation and other tools to meet those expectations. Students benefit from ever present reminders of schools expectations in visual reminders, verbal interactions and activities. All school staff, plus parents and students (and even the community) play a role in consistently echoing the expectation of school.

"An understanding heart is everything in a teacher, and cannot be esteemed highly enough. One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feeling. The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, but warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child."
— Carl Jung (1875 - 1961
